It's been a few months since I moved to Finland for study...
So far I can say that I like the place where I'm staying, a small town, with population of about 50,000, the first day while reaching here, the very feeling I had was, the air is really super fresh, did enjoy breathing it...
Less people, less cars, less air pollution of course, and even less sound pollution from cars... This is an urban area, but a peaceful place to stay, not so crowded like Helsinki, no traffic jam,no rushing hour, this is what I've been searching for, such kind of quiet life...
For me it's a better choice to stay in a town, not so crowded as capital, where you may face problem all the time, when you wanna go somewhere, especially when time is limited; and not so small like village either, sometimes it's lack of social service, from what I know, maybe it's hard to get cable connection for internet, or maybe you can't get the item you need, even you are ready to pay... In a middle size town, you can find almost everything you need, and you don't have to bear any traffic problem, and it's quite easy for you to reach anywhere, within half hour, plus you won't get lung problem easily, coz you breathe clean air all the time... Life is not all about work, money, etc., but the way my heart feels also matters...

By reading your post: "Modern Living and Exhaustion" and this post, seems you like silence.
ReplyDeleteYeah, tired of the crowded cities... What about you?
ReplyDeleteLinda,
ReplyDeleteSince I was married and had children, then the problem of crowded cities is no longer become a thing that disturb my comfort as long as I have a good job for the future of my family.
Nice to talk with you.
From me, someone who live so far away from you.
Hey tikno. We are a team of writers here, so that post, "Modern Living and Exhaustion" was my post. But its a common theme. Finland is a good choice if you don't want to see too many people around :). You can live in the countryside!
ReplyDeleteHi Raine,
ReplyDeleteI never go to Finland just read it on Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finland.
It seems a beautiful country but have cold climates. Maybe I should wear layered clothing if going there, because I'm accustomed in tropical country.
I tried to see your profile on blogger but don't see your picture ;)
Hi Tikno, I see you got a family with children inside, seems that you are happy with your life... I know it'll be easier to find a job in crowded place, but to me peaceful quiet life is more important... And thanks for the comments...
ReplyDelete@Raine, I agree, Finland is a good place for those who wanna stay in quiet...
Linda,
ReplyDeleteSeems your recipes collection is delicious. I've asked my wife to try out your recipe for "Spring roll" and "Kong Bao Shrimp." But I have to translate it into English because she does not speak English ha... ha...
Spring roll is called "Lumpia" in Indonesian language.
Linda and Raine,
I have concerned about the "abuse of Indonesian female migrant worker" and about "night worker ladies", and had posting for both stories (real story) at:
http://love-ely.blogspot.com/2008/09/abuse-of-indonesian-migrant-worker.html
http://love-ely.blogspot.com/2008/07/night-worker-ladies-between-pity-and.html
Perhaps both of you would like to voicing it.
Hey Tikno,
ReplyDeleteI know your concern is a bit worrying. I don't know how much this applies to Finland, I know alot of Thai women live here, but do not know about Indonesian women.
Legal migrants enjoy good social health services, even illegal migrants have some kind of support if they find it, although they probably risk being kicked out of the country.
As for night work, its the same situation in nearly all countries, poor treatment, abuse. It's terrible for the women. Actually abuse of women doesn't happen only in brothels or night work, it happens actually in married couples also around the world. So its sad but real.
